Forest stewardship is taken very seriously by Gilkey Lumber. Fred Hardin, who is a registered forester, is an active participant in the Southern Appalachian Multiple-Use Council and is a past president of that organization. Gilkey's loggers follow Best Management Practices (BMP's) and the company holds regular meetings to talk specifically about environmental sustainability issues with its loggers. |
